CHAP was born from our experiences as first-generation immigrants and founders of color. Our foundation is built on the collective expertise of our team across supply chain operations, commerce infrastructure, industrial tech, and venture investing. We are backed by a network of seasoned founders and operators behind category-defining companies in food distribution, freight automation, B2B marketplaces, and last-mile delivery — including GrubMarket, UniUni, Fantuan Delivery, and more. We bring industry depth and hands-on support to help early teams navigate complex systems and scale with purpose.
As an early-stage fund, we invest more than capital. We work side-by-side with founders from day one — whether it's streamlining fulfillment workflows, building resilient freight networks, or opening up new platforms for physical commerce. Since 2018, we have partnered with over 30 early-stage teams rethinking how goods move across North America and beyond.
Our Managing Partner
Jie (CJ) Chen
CJ is a founder and investor with deep conviction in the power of logistics and infrastructure to shape the future of commerce. His career spans operational finance, early-stage venture, and cross-border investing, with a focus on supporting founders solving complex supply chain challenges from the ground up.
Before launching CHAP, CJ was Managing Partner at Celtic House Asia Partners, where he worked closely with startups scaling across the U.S., Canada, and Asia. Over the years, he has backed and advised companies across freight automation, B2B marketplaces, and vertical logistics infrastructure.
